About the Artist

Pour Darling is currently a business of one. Someday, it may expand! But for now, the sole artist is me, Molly Herold. Nice to meet ya!

Beginnings

I began my artistic journey as a writer. Crafting words came naturally at a very early age. My memoir writings were published as a teenager and honored at Carnegie Hall through the Scholastic Foundation by none other than Kathy (freakin) Bates!

While I’ve always been drawn to visual art, like many artists & crafters/makers, I worried I didn’t have the “innate talent” to be a visual artist. But then, in college, I discovered the art of book making / book binding and became instantly obsessed with the meticulous and repetative process needed to bring a book to life. In 2012 I founded MollyCoddle Books and poured much of my creative energy into handcrafting beautiful journals of all shapes and sizes. I am not not actively book-binding at the moment, but I still do occasional commissions.

In 2019, I lived on my own for the first time and found I had enough extra space to explore my creative interests. After months of experimentation, creation and watching thousands of hours of Youtube lessons, Pour Darling was born! I wanted to share my new obsession and knowledge of acrylic pouring with the rest of the Asheville community. I offered my first Pour Darling Acrylic Pouring class in October of 2019 at Gingers Revenge!

The Past, Present and Colorful Future

Then… things got real weird™. Just as I hung some of my favorite pieces on the red gallery wall at Gingers Revenge, the world ground to a halt. After a good deal of rest, reflection and therapeutic art making, I began to dream of how to reopen Pour Darling Studios, safely, as a multimedia arts & crafts community space. Now located in the Flood Art Gallery in Black Mountain (just outside of Asheville), Pour Darling Studios has a beautiful new space to call home, offer classes abstract fluid art classes and hopefully host guest artists! I am also setting up all the things I need to create a lively & wholesome YouTube Channel for all the ADHD Art DIY’s of my dreams. It’s been a wild ride and I’m sure it’s only going to get weirder. Stay tuned.

When I’m not making art…

When I’m not making art or teaching a class, you can find me being a therapist in Downtown Asheville, snuggling my awesome cat, and just being a nonbinary gremlin with my partner and amazing friends. Mid-Quarantine PT 2, I enjoy safe live music, philosphical & existential conversations, floating down the french broad, binge watching netflix / youtube and attempting to “homestead” with a handful of plants & some sourdough. Ya know. Asheville Millenial Shit.
